What are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are characterised as stripes on the skin which may have either a lighter or darker colour in comparison to your usual skin complexion.
How do they come about?
Collagen, which is a significant component of the makeup of our skin, has the responsibility of making our skin flexible and stretchable. If our skin stretches faster than the production of collagen then this will result in stretch marks being formed. The best examples being breast growth during puberty and belly growth due to pregnancy.
Who gets stretch marks?
Stretch marks are not gender biased, both men and women can get stretch marks once the right conditions are set for this. Stretch marks are not weight biased either, a lot of fat people do not have stretch marks while a lot of slim people do. Genetics have a lot to do with who develops stretch marks from those who do not.
Did you know that consuming a healthy diet consisting of the right foods can boost your collagen levels and may just keep your skin from developing stretch marks?
Most prominent places to get stretch marks
I have never seen anyone with stretch marks anywhere above the neck, but it's possible. Most females develop stretch marks on their breasts, hips, belly and butt. Most males develop stretch marks on their shoulders, belly (watch the beer!) and back. Other common places you can get stretch marks: knees and back of knees.
Proven remedies to get rid of stretch marks
Cocoa Butter
If you haven't heard about cocoa butter then you must be living under a rock somewhere, no offence if you actually do live under a rock.
Cocoa butter has been used for centuries by pregnant women to prevent stretch marks and to fade stretch marks. If cocoa butter was not as good as they said it is - companies such as Palmer's would have been out of business already!

For the best results you must use the cocoa butter twice per day: after your morning shower and after your evening shower. To increase the effect of the cocoa butter on your stretch marks try the dry brushing technique spoken about in the article:Bye Bye Cellulite, Hello Sexy Legs!
Dermaroller
To me and a lot of persons who have actually used the Dermaroller it seems as if this product is one of the best products on the market today. It is good for wrinkles, cellulite, stretch marks and so many other things.
The Dermaroller takes the form of a miniature rolling pin studded by tiny needles.
The Dermaroller takes the form of a miniature rolling pin studded by tiny needles.
Fast results are seen when this remedy is used especially when used in conjunction with topical stretch marks vanishing creams, lotions and butters. The tiny needles prick the epidermis of the skin which leads to the increase in collagen production thus helping the skin to heal (faster). Before choosing this method, ensure you do extensive research and choose the right length needles and possibly a numbing gel.
