How important is the colon you may ask? The colon is the body's sewer system, it is excretion highway and when it is not properly cared for it can become the bodies bacteria central. Your colon affects a number of organs and their functions. Not caring for the colon may cause:

Trouble with vision
Disturbance of the pancreas
Toxin overload
Colon cancer
The need for colonoscopy
And above all else constipation. So what are the things that may cause these problems or in what ways do you ignore the care of your colon?

1. Stress- the mental environment often has an effect on the physical environment of the body. If the mind feels pressured, the body will cease certain of its functions to compensate for the roles the now pressured mind plays.
2. Work schedule- this may tie into stress as well. At times your work schedule takes up so much time that you donât get to know the comfort of your bathroom, you have to be rushing and something as unnoticeable as an irregular bowel goes overlooked until serious issues start setting in.
3. Diet- If you are a lover of meat and Carbohydrates, do your colon a favor and cut down, yes it may be hard to be watching diet on your schedule, but not as hard as it will be to pay your doctor's bill if any of the above occurs. Lay off the meat and carbs.
4. Psychology- according to Sigmund Freud, and you do not have to agree, in explaining how physical development links to personality development, during infancy the things we do and the responses we get determine if such an action will be repeated. An example was used where he said that if an infant is being potty trained and say maybe they have an âaccidentâ during potty training and mom and dad scolds that child, then the child will make sure that such an accident never occurs again. Hence, the infant develops a (anal) personality in the future from that experience wherein if the situation is seen as inappropriate, the action will not occur, so in this case an inappropriate situation might be public bathrooms for you, so you hold it until you go home, where it is seen as more appropriate.
So how can you fix it and maintain it? You can care for your colon and avoid constipation by doing the following, the more of them you practice the better.

1. H2O is your new best friend, hydrate and loosen up your colon.
2. Feed on everything wheat. Bran absorbs tons of water and allows for softer, easier to move feces and since it makes up most of your fecal matter, it is best to go bran.
3. Get some dried prunes, raisins or apricots, they are very good in oatmeal, which happens to be grease for the colon.
4. Get some granola if you are not an oatmeal person, it is healthy, delicious and can be had as a breakfast cereal in place of the sugar filled cereals you usually have.
6. Train your bowels- set aside a time specifically for bowel action, a time that you know will never be interrupted, just some man and toilet time.
7. If you gotta go, go! Do not deprive your bowels, as soon as you feel the urge, give in, find a restroom and do your business.
