Can you compare your relationship to stagnant water like a lifeless ocean that has left the outskirts of the beach thirsty? While this is a normal stage which most relationships go through at one time or another there are ways you can bring back the life in your relationship. That is, if both you and your partner are willing to work on your relationship. Just like the saying “it takes two to tango” both you and your partner need to work together on building your relationship.
Steps to Saving Your Relationship
1. Set up a quiet date (breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner) where the two of you can talk with each other in private.
2. Let your partner know that you are not completely satisfied with the state of your relationship. Ask him/her how they feel about the state of your relationship as well. Their feedback is just as important as yours is.
3. If you’ve found that both of you have the same problems discuss these issues calmly while making sure that you both have a clear understand of what the other is saying. If your partner does not have any problem with the state of your relationship make sure you get their agreement to work on it together either way.
4. After discussing the problem(s) and making and taking suggestions on how to solve the problems make a motion to move closer to your partner. The reason for moving closer to your partner is to create more intimate atmosphere – your bodies will get a chance to communicate with each other while sharing body heat. You could opt to feed each other if it is something you both enjoy.
5. When you have finished eating hold your partner in a warm and close embrace for at least 10 seconds so that your bodies can be prompted to release the bonding hormone called oxytocin.
6. You could start a routine out of greeting each other with a hug which lasts at least 10 seconds. To add to the intimacy you could then look into each others eyes and say something nice to each other – for example “I’m so happy to see you, I’ve missed you”. You can then end the salutation with a deep kiss.
7. You both should make a pact to always be up front and tell each other when you’re not pleased about something in the relationship. Silence is not always key, however, try not to overdo it as your partner might become annoyed.
8. Lastly, do not only greet your partner in such a sweet way. When you are saying bye to your partner you should also do the same things you did when you were greeting them. End with a kiss that will make them feel how much you care for them, tell them how much you will miss them as well as let them know you can’t wait to be in their arms again. That one kiss should say all these things.
I hope this article will help you to re-ignite the passion that your relationship once had. However, if this article does not help maybe you should talk to your partner about considering couple’s therapy, that is, if you believe your relationship is really worth saving.
