Acne Scare
If you are anything like me, then you suffer at the hands of acne. All through out my teenage years, I was acne free (yes, I was one of the lucky ones) and then a soon as I hit my twenties with the stress of college, poor diet and a weak immune system, Bam! Acne attack. During this time, I started noticing that pimples both large and small started appearing on my cheek and forehead. Looking back though, I can understand now why it occurred, what with my poor lifestyle. You see acne or Acne Vulgaris (scientific name), according to www.medicalnewstoday.com, is a "skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of the hair follicles." They continue by saying that acne usually occurs during puberty on the side of both sexes, which is the period in which the oil glands come to life.

As you know the skin consists of certain components, basically the dermis, epidermis, glands. follicles and hair.The oil glands we spoke about are found in the skin's pores (those little raises you see when you're cold or what you call goosebumps are actually the pores closing to regulate your temperature). The pores are also responsible for moisture, Howevever, when these pores become clogged with dirt, depositions from hair scalp or other impurities, they combine with the oil to form a mass in the pores, which protrudes to form pimples, However at times, this build-up causes an infection in the pores which results in acne. Your diet can also contribute to acne and pimple formation. Meat and sweets for example and the amount consumed can have devastating effects . The more oil/protein build-up in the pores, the easier it is for your skin to get oily and for dirt and other deposition to attach itself to your skin and the higher your sugar content is than your water content (as we know water flushes the system), the more susceptible you are. When we were born, our skin was able to sustain itself up to a certain age (baby skin) however after that period expired, we had to rely on ulterior sources of moisture (moisturisers) and after a while the glands had to rely also on the food we consume. Thus our skin becomes what we eat, basically.
Acne can act as your body's warning sign, similar to when you get a fever (which indicates that your body is fighting something)Acne cane be indicative of something going wrong in your body (either stress, colon or dietary problems) and is usually a sign that you need detoxing. Now there are different types of acne and a plethora of ways to get rid of them. I too will attempt to help you find one that suits you.

ways to do this, you can use spa chemicals, get a good steam going or you could just use
the simple method of boiling some ginger roots and have the residue water as
tea.

3 Make water your new best friend- The pores excrete what you put in, so more water means more sweat, that can help in unclogging pores.

5 Pay attention to your diet, leave the sweets alone and from now on, you hate soda.
6 Use an Acne Treatment, if you so desire,although the real aim of this article is to get you to start habits that are skin- friendly. I know this particular Neutrogena Acne Wash- Pink Grapefruit is divine!, it not only does your skin good, it smells great as well.

these are some of the practices that have to become habits in order to prevent and get rid of acne. if you already have acne then you can use these steps along with acne solutions to get rid of them, but these steps must become habits in order to maintain acne free skin.

7 Steam: Get a basin filled with hot water, (add some essence if you'd like), put a towel around your head with you face over the basin, wrap the basin with the towel too to prevent the steam from escaping and just allow it to steam for around 10-15 minutes.
8 Wash your face at least four times per day, depending on your exposure to the elements, try to avoid soaps though as they might cause the skin to dry out. Instead try these skin friendly cleansers
